Tutorial - Level Head Units

Here is a tutorial I think will greatly help many of you. The importance of levels is clear with any project, but what about the units of those levels? The surveyor gives units of decimal feet. You want to show units of decimal feet on your Revit model. So you go to Project units and you change it.... but wait... all of your dimensions now change!!

Damn... so how do you change just the level heads to be decimal feet? Check out my tutorial below.

Topics Covered:
  • Editing the Level Head Family
  • Changing the Units of the Elevation Parameter.
  • Loading the family back into the project.

I don't see the "edit" option using Revit 2011. Any suggestions on how to edit the level head?

Anne, see my reply below...
level heads are a system family (at least if you're using the template that comes with revit 2011), you can't edit them.

They are not system families... if you cannot edit them in a typical view you might have to edit them in the family broswer. Simply expand the Family Types part of the browser and go under "Annothations"... Should be there.
THANKS
