Revit Tutorial - Site Designer Plugin

I attended a class about the Site Designer Plugin by Dan Rosenberg during RTCNA this year for the simple reason of understanding how to get the damn tool to work!  For those of you who have attempted or used the Site Designer Plugin you may have found it to be anything but intuitive.  Well, Dan was able to break it down and make it at least work.  For that, I was glad I attended the class.

The concept behind the Site Designer plugin is fantastic.  The ability to make accurate (looking) roads, sidewalks, and curbs that automatically follow your toposurface is a no-brainer.

During the session Dan mentioned he had created a series of videos about the Site Designer tool and asked that we share them.  Well, I decided to post them here for you!

Dan, thanks for the great session and the videos!

I went to Autodesk Site Designer page and read the reviews. They were not good and many said the plug in doesn't work at all.Comment?

I felt that some of the negative reviews might have been due to people finding it hard to get over some of the initial hurdles of getting started with the plugin. My videos should help people get past some of those road blocks. Other bad reviews of the product are legitimate gripes. This plugin is not the ultimate solution in Site Design, but it does some incredible stuff we could never do before like automatically grade roads to a toposurface.
Dan, thanks for the response! Well said.
Hey Dan,
Thanks for the videos
I posted one of those reviews, but it wasn't just the piss-poor interface that stopped me using it but the fact it just crashed so often, and when it did work it was interminably slooooow even on a small test topo. Never been back, and the videos wouldn't tempt me.

Dan, thanks for sharing the videos and a great class at RTC! You made me realize there MAY be a glimmer of hope in using the Site Designer Plugin ;)
Dan can you do more videos using some of the other tools like feature lines, and retaining walls. I really want to use this plug in but am finding it incredibly difficult to use.

Absolutely. I will reply when I get a chance to upload some more videos.
I was struggling with plugin and quit working with it but now after Dan´s videos I found many areas where I can use it. Thanks for the great videos, it helped a lot!

Thanks for sharing
I wasn't able to use the site designer before until I watched your tutorials....
very helpful
please create more videos of site designer...=)
Please Dan as I can download this video
I downloaded the manual and it has a lot of good tips when modeling with this tool. Your videos help to reinforce what is in the manual. Thanks for doing this.
