We’ve all been there.
You’re sitting at your desk with four empty coffee cups, Pandora blaring some tunes into your headphones, and Revit’s damn magenta colored sketch lines burned into your retinas.
I know what it’s like to work with a deadline looming over your head (or maybe more than one deadline). Which is why I was not surprised to discover the number one reason TheRevitKid.com reader (such as yourself) said you have not learned Dynamo yet is that you “don’t have the time”.
There are many, many, more... |
The good news is most of you have heard of Dynamo. Dynamo or not, I do believe that visual programming is the future of programming, automation, and design. In fact, many other programs outside of Dynamo contain visual programming interfaces for various tasks.
Capture of Visual Programming in "Stingray". |
Here are just a few programs that contain Visual Programming Interfaces:
Autodesk 3DS Max
Autodesk Stingray
Unity Game Engine
CryEngine
Microsoft VPL
Grasshopper
Etc… Etc…
Now, I want you to remember when you decided to learn Revit. Why did you decide to invest the time in learning an entirely new software package with a steep learning curve?
If I had to guess, I would say a majority of you decided to learn Revit for two reasons:
Everyone else in the industry were making the move and you feel like you had to convert to Revit or be left behind. (This is the “FOMO” reason).
You wanted to increase your efficiency (reducing the amount of time/hours spent on construction document creation) and increase your bottom line.
Well, guess what? Dynamo is the new Revit. Visual programming is the future. You found the time to learn Revit because you wanted to improve your workflow, increase your efficiency, and keep up with the market.
So, really, what are you waiting for??
Comment below and tell me why you feel like you don’t have the time to learn Dynamo today.
