Revit Tip - Duplicate WITH Dependent

This is a simple little tip.  If you want to duplicate a floor plan and its dependent views follow these steps:

  1. Find the main view you want to copy and Duplicate (I used Duplicate with Details because I wanted the room names copied over.)
  2. While you have the new view as your Active view (you can tell because the new view will be in BOLD letters in the Project Browser), right click on the original view. Then click on "Apply Dependent Views". It will ask you if you want to apply the dependent views to the new view that you just renamed. Click on Yes.
  3. Rename views as needed.

Sadly, this cannot be done between Floor Plan and Reflected Ceiling Plans due to the inability to mess with System Families in Revit... Would be awesome to be able to duplicate and then convert a floor plan to a reflected ceiling plan...

Free Brick Patterns for Revit/CAD (.pat) Files!

Eric, an AUGI member emailed me asking if I would like to post about a poll...

Would you like to see more Project Templates from Manufacturer Associations and Reference Organizations? One of the biggest problems facing firms transitioning to Revit is lack of Useful Content. Please find the enclosed PDF for what could become the definitive Revit Brick Template. All content would be contained in a single RVT available to the design community. Calculated Values and Shared Parameters assigned to Families as required to Schedule and “quantify”.

Just click here and vote for the poll at the top of the page... Then download the zip file full of Brick Patterns!

Thanks Eric!

New Augi | AEC Edge Magazine

Go check out Steve's blog and download the latest issue of AUGI | AEC Edge Magazine.  There are some worth wile articles with tips and tricks in different areas of Revit.

Also, if you turn to page 38 (after reading Michael Anonuevo's article of course), Michael listed this website as a "great Revit website".  Cool!  Thanks for the free publicity Michael.  I hope some of my links to your blog have brought you traffic as well.
