Revit 2014 - Student Download Date... Still waiting...

By this time last year Autodesk had already released the latest version of Revit (2013).  My prediction last year was that the student release would have been around April 18th.  I am wondering when it will be released to students this year.  Looks like AutoCAD 2014 and some other software suites are good to go for students...  Hmmm...  Additionally, the 30-day free trial download for Revit on Autodesk's website is still setup for 2013...

Navisworks 2014 is also available for students to download....

What about Revit?!

Revit 2012 - Autodesk Education Community Download - Still no sign...

I was getting hopeful that the Revit 2012 suites would be launching soon over at the Autodesk Education Community when I saw AutoCAD Architecture 2012 pop up recently...

Sadly, no Revit 2012 versions yet...

I think I am going to stay realistic and go with my original estimated Student Community launch date...

Why do the CAD kids get to have all the fun first?

1,000,000 Members of Autodesk Student Community.

I was just wondering on Facebook and ran across the Autodesk Student Community page where this message was posted:

The Autodesk Education Community just hit 1 million members! Thanks to all the students and educators who have made this an active and thriving global community.

Wow... I remember looking a couple weeks ago and there was only about 800,000 members. What does this mean to The Revit Kid.com? Well, this means that, whether they all know it or not, one million people have access to a fully functioning copy of Revit for FREE! Incredible.

Autodesk Student Community - Internation Email Issue & Updates

Apparently international students (going to schools outside of the United States were having issues with their school email address's not working when registering for the Student Community.

From Autodesk:

"To address the issue many countries have of not providing school issued email addresses, Autodesk allows all students from India – and several other countries – access to the Community without the requirement of a school email address. You must, however, use a valid personal email address, and must choose your school from a pull-down on the registration form.

Go to the registration page, choose your country from the pull-down menu, then continue to fill out the form."

Now, go to the Autodesk Student Community and start using Revit for FREE!

Also, Autodesk 3DS Max and Maya were always 30 day trials for students... not anymore. Head to the Student Community and you can download Maya and 3DS Max for 6 month trials.

"The Autodesk Sustainable Design Guide illustrates sustainable design principles and technologies for every phase of the project life cycle – whether new construction or renovation. Decisions made early in the process can deliver significant results when it comes to the efficient use of energy, water, materials and land in a final project design. Using this guide will help you better understand which decisions are critical – and what steps to take to create and deliver more sustainable designs.

You Will Learn...

What decisions impact the sustainability of your project
When to make those decisions
What tools and information you need to inform these decisions..."

Autodesk Student Community: Career Center

For those of you who belong to the student community I was clicking around and found the Careers section.

This portion of the site is powered by Career Builder.com and appears to be very powerful.  I searched for jobs in my area and found a whole bunch (usually I find one or two relating to architecture on many other sites).  Give it a try.
