Revit Tip - Placing Rebar and Stirrups (Revit Rocks)

Daryl, over at Revit Rocks (and CADClips) published a nice post breaking down some tips for creating Rebars and stirrups in Revit:

Image: http://revitrocks.blogspot.com/2014/05/tips-on-placing-revit-rebar-and-stirrups.html

Placing Rebar in a concrete column in plan view can be a quite a frustrating experience. . . . that is until you read read post.

We get the 'stop sign' symbol (seen below) on our cursor when the rebar cannot be placed and it can be a real pain in the butt. A few tips on Placing Rebar....

Explore ALL of Revit's Detail Components in Imperial! (Revit Rocks)

I re-posted Daryl's blog (Revit Rocks) a few days ago which had all of Revit's detail components layed out in a file and image.  Some of you commented and emailed asking if there was an imperial version (Daryl's first version was metric).   Well, Daryl must have heard your prayers!

Daryl, I'm sure I speak for my readers who asked for this when I say thanks!

Some of you may find this very useful.

Daryl, over at Revit Rocks, posted a project file that has every single detail component laid out with text in a drafting view....  Pretty Cool.

Free Revit Tutorials - Create a House (CAD Clips)

Daryl, over at CAD Clips and Revit Rocks, has released over 14 hours of free Revit training videos.... They are recorded using Revit 2009 (pre-ribbon) but a lot of stuff still applies.

In this series we will use a ‘work in progress’ approach to develop the series over a period of time.
Here are the main objectives:
Custom Families, Clay Tile, Materials, Lighting, Rendering, Cameras, Site and Toposurfaces.
Utilize a ‘Santa Barbara California’ modeling theme to keep it interesting.
Drill down into the new Mental Ray Rendering tools and Materials.
Take advantage of the CADclips supplied Content File which contains ALL the custom families in this series.
Learn to create the custom families yourself, from scratch.
We cover everything from Spanish Clay Tile Roofing to Topo Surfaces and Wall Scallops as we dress up the outside of our Santa Barbara models.

Revit Tip - Retaining Footing Do Not Join (Revit Rocks)

Nice little tip to look out for when you are making footing in Revit.  Basically, your footings do not join because you might have accidentally been using retaining footings instead of bearing...

See Daryl's post here for more details...

Revit Tutorial - 3D Sections (Revit Rocks)

Nice little tutorial/tip from Daryl... I use 3D sections all the time.  They are an absolutely priceless way to "tell the story" about your building...

REVIT Rocks ! - REVIT 3D Section Views [Tutorial]

I like to take advantage of ALL of REVITs wonderful benifits . . . . . and here's another.
Watch the CADclip below to see how you can instantly turn a regular section view into a 3d sectional view.

Tutorial - Stepped Footing (Revit Rocks)

This is a great video to parallel my Stepping Footing tutorial... Cool to see the different approaches.

Out of the box REVIT just doesn't make it easy to create stepped footings.
We need to:
1. Create some Reference Planes
2. Model the stepped footing using an In-Place family
3. Split the walls
4. Apply the Concrete Material and then Join Geometry

Below are 5 CADclips embedded in a single viewer on how to create the stepped footing you see above. This is good for both for REVIT Architecture or Structure.

Tutorial - Wood Framing Walls (Revit Rocks!)

Finally, someone posts about the new wood framing extension for Revit. I have been dying to do a video about it but I have yet to get my hands on the extensions pack. Daryl has a great post about it on his Revit Rocks! Blog (including a video)...

In this tutorial we are going to introduce you to the new and exciting REVIT Wood Framing Walls Extension available for free to all REVIT subscription members.

Thanks to > REVIT Learning Curve for bringing this app to my attention.
It's taken me a solid 15-20 hours of tinkering before I could get it to create what I wanted in a single attempt, however there were MANY failed attempts.
There are a few things that need to get 'fixed' with this REVIT extension before it's 100% ready for the market but it has amazing potential.
