The Revit Kid Project - Early Childhood Magnet School

Because I know how much I love seeing other's Revit projects I will continue to share some of mine.  This project was interesting in that my professor only gave us 5 days to design and present it (that is on top of working and 3 other classes!).

Given the time frame I took an interesting approach by nailing down the concept and a bubble diagram first and then building the Revit model... I actually brought in this concept sketch to Revit and using the bubble diagram (and all the ideas I had in my head) I quickly created the Revit model.

I then made the final hand sketched floor plan using the Revit model!  I know that sounds strange but it actually worked out really well.

The Revit Kid Project - Istanbul Waterfront (Revit and Prezi)

I took a stab at using Prezi for my last Studio presentation.  I have to say that is is very nice.  Working inside the browser is an interesting way to do things but it worked.  It was not hard to learn and they offer some Student benefits (500mb free storage I believe).  Not to mention when you are finished you can download the presentation as a Flash file and can run it on virtually any computer.  

The workflow ended up being pretty simple:  Sketches, drawings, Revit, Prezi....

Another great feature is the ability to pick and zoom freely (beyond the "paths" you create".  This worked great for discussions with the jury after my presentation.

The Revit Kid Project - Mantra Hotel

I posted a few days ago about some renderings I was doing and a project I was working.  I also posted some of the boards from the first phase of this project. Well, it is finished!  I presented it on Monday.  I decided to share it all with you.  I think this is a great example of the wide variety of presentation options Revit gives you.  All of these images are native Revit (exports or renderings).  They were post processed in Photoshop and I created a Powerpoint. No other software was used.

Phil Bernstein - University of Hartford

Phil Bernstein (if you don't know who he is by now, just search my blog for his name) is coming back to the University of Hartford for a lecture...

Architect Phillip G. Bernstein, FAIA, will deliver the first lecture in
the architecture department’s Spring Semester series on
Thursday, February 4, on the “The Role of the Future Architect.”
The lecture will begin at 6 PM in Wilde Auditorium and is open to
the public. Bernstein will consider how the digital revolution and
information management in architecture is shaping the future of
the profession. Bernstein is a Vice President at Autodesk, a
leading provider of software for the architecture, engineering and
construction industry. A practicing architect with more than 25
years of experience, he leads Industry Strategy and Relations for the AEC Division
where he is responsible for setting the company's future vision and strategy for
technology serving the building industry. Bernstein teaches Professional Practice at
the Yale School of Architecture. The lecture is made possible through the JCJ
Architecture Endowment of the Department of Architecture at the University of
Hartford.



I will be there for sure.... Anyone in the area should definitely come as well!

Lecture Series 2009

If you remember some posts a few months back about a Phil Bernstien lecture at the University of Hartford well the series is starting again. Oh, and Phil Bernstein is on the list again for this series (he gave me his word he would show this time... right Phil? =P ). The first lecture is tomorrow... I will be there and I hope anyone in the area will be there too.

ELIJAH HUGE LECTURE SEPTEMBER 17

Architect and Yale graduate Elijah Huge, who teaches architecture at Wesleyan University, will kick off our fall lecture series on Thursday, September 17 in Mali Auditorium (in Dana Hall) at 6PM. The lecture is open to the public, and all architecture students are strongly encouraged to attend. Huge’s students have completed a series of design/build projects (such as a Sukkah, pictured left) and he will discuss the design/build process and what students can learn by using it. This year we have expanded the lecture series to include young architects, prominent practitioners, films about architecture, and faculty presentations, with an event every Thursday at 6PM through late November.

Phillip Bernstein, FAIA Lecture Series

I will be attending a lecture at the University of Hartford here in Connecticut.  Anyone who is in the area should really attend it as well.
