Tutorial - Recessed Lighting Fixture

A quick tutorial in response to an email I received.

This tutorial addresses the issue of a recessed ceiling light (usually fluorescent) that is not built into the Revit families. It is very simple to make the typical 2 foot by 4 foot ceiling light that is seen in every acoustic tile ceiling.

Topics Covered:
  • Editing a Lighting Fixture Family.
  • Creating Parameters.
  • Editing Parameters.
  • Testing Parameters.
  • Aligning and constraining family elements.

Nice tutorial, but why does the glass extrusion go above the ceiling line at the end? Both extrusions seemed to share the same face until the drop went to 1/4" ?
I believe the glass was recessed into the extrusion by 1/4" initially. They do not share the same face.
Beautiful tutorial but i could not download tobe go over all the layers of steps. Pls how may i download it? Thanks
great tutorial but can you do the same thing with the other type of ceiling light that revit has provided
Ugggg! I followed the tutorial 4x's and can't get the light source to show properly when rendering. Either the box is dark like there is no hole in the ceiling or the the light is leaking through. In both cases there is low light in room coming from somewhere.
