In the midst of enrollment for DIY Dynamo's Spring 2018 session I thought it would be fun to ask the first ever "graduating" class of DIY Dynamo their thoughts on the course, and, of course, share them with you!
Additionally, if you are interested in hanging out with myself and a few special guests online this week keep reading for more information about the next free and live BIM After Dark Happy Hour (I know, it's been a while!).

Class of 2017 - Honest Opinions...
I asked the first ever group of students (74 to be exact) to complete DIY Dynamo to give their honest and un-filtered opinions of the class. Just like you, I rely pretty heavily on ratings and reviews before I make any large purchase. So, I thought it was only fair to share them with you today!
Here are the questions I asked and their responses (I've combined some of the similar responses so you don't have to read redundant answers):
What was your biggest challenge with Dynamo before DIY Dynamo?
- Not knowing where to start.
- Identifying the usefulness in my workflow and finding a reason/motivation to begin.
- Allocating time to actually sit down and understand the workflow.
What changed for you after completing DIY Dynamo and how did DIY Dynamo help?
- I now understand the flow, inputs/outputs, and I am able to easily adapt the scripts to be applicable to my work.
- Enough knowledge to try several nodes and make my own scripts.
- I was easily able to identify tasks that were best handled through Dynamo and I am also now able to see the process through practical application.
- I was able to actually be productive with it.
- I can see new ways of using Revit.
- Seeing resources out there and how easy it was to put scripts together allows me to more actively look for instances Dynamo can be utilized.
What would you say to someone thinking about enrolling in DIY Dynamo?
For this one, of course, I have to share a bunch!
- Just do it!
- Great basic course that shows you, lets you try it and then gives you the answer so that you can understand if you didn't get it.
- If they could take something like your course.. I would say do it.
- Do it! I learned a lot and was easily able to apply it to my work.
- Its worth every minute you spend
- Do it!
- Worth the price and time
- I've already briefed my office/team on the benefits.
- Check it out
- Do it. It is a great way to ease into Dynamo.
- Reasonably priced, informative and definitely helpful.
- I encourage them to learn It.
- Do it!
- It’s a great stepping stone to get started.
Anything else to add?
For this response, I want to share a fantastic comment by Randy of Huntley, IL. Randy hits the nail right on the head as to why I decided to try a new format with live office hours, weekly emails, and a private community (Thanks Randy!)....
"Your approach to providing support to everyone was a definite sustain with their being a scheduled live forum adding to that benefit. One con of online learning is the lack of leadership or guidance helping someone through the curriculum when they are allowed to at their own pace. I think it's safe to say the majority would thrive with not having the option to procrastinate or push off completing something to a time of their choosing. Set dates and times with expiration's help schedule and include the training in daily task lists. Supports the users commitment and integration into their busy schedule which I feel it's safe to say we all want but struggle with to some degree."
Randy, I literally couldn't have said it better myself....
So, what do you think? Join me this Spring?
Hop on in while you still can (enrollment ends on Friday)....
Next enrollment in the course will not be until Fall of 2018!
DIY Dynamo was created with the beginner in mind. After completing the course you will have created 16 real-world Dynamo scripts, discovered how to overcome common road blocks, understand the Dynamo mindset, and set the foundation required to solve the most complex problems using Dynamo.
So, are you ready to start your Dynamo journey?
