Do Architects still Draw by Hand? (Interview with Eric from 30x40) - Replay

Yesterday's episode of BIM After Dark Live did not disappoint!  Eric Reinholdt (from 30x40 Design Workshop) joined me and we had a great conversation about architectural practice, technology, education, and more...

You'll get to hear how Eric started 30x40 Workshop, why he still loves building physical models, how he monetizes his practice (beyond just architectural services), and more...

As BIM and technology enthusiasts, it's easy to focus on digital tools and forget about the art of being an architect. Eric has done an amazing job of using technology to streamline his process while still valuing analog tools, such as hand drawing and physical model making.  I'm sure you'll be just as interested as I am to delve into Eric's processes, tools, and ethos…

Architect + Entrepreneur Startup Toolkit : A Must Have!

Earlier this year I posted a review of Eric Reinholdt's book  "Architect and Entrepreneur: A Field Guide to Building, Branding, and Marketing Your Startup Design Business".  Many of you emailed me and thanked me for the review and introduction to the book.  If you have not read the review, or the book, and dream of one day starting your own architecture firm you should read it right now! In the book, Eric stresses the importance of creating and maintaining standard operating procedures.  In an effort to help those enlightened by his book, Eric has releases a set of standard documents that you can purchase today and get your new design firm rolling right away!

I purchased Eric's set of documents immediately after received his email about their availability.  Even if I had my own template or document set up for a particular purpose I know I can learn from viewing other firms documents.

Book Review: Architect + Entrepreneur

I have been publishing on this blog for over six years now.  During those six years I completed an associates degree, bachelors degree, and a master of architect.  Additionally, I completed IDP, all of my exams, and am now a licensed architect.  Therefore, it should not be a surprise that this blog has always leaned towards Revit Architecture (and less towards the other flavors).  I know many of you who follow the blog are also architects and designers.

When I read a review copy of Eric Reinholdt's new book, "Architect and Entrepreneur: A Field Guide to Building, Branding, and Marketing Your Startup Design Business", I knew I had to share it with you!  Also, Eric does mention BIM and Revit in a few paragraphs, ;)....

Continue reading for my review of one of the most positive, uplifting yet honest, business of architecture books I have read... and I have read MANY....
