More Revit Family Download Resources

Because you can never have enough places to look for families a new list of links has appeared on the BIM Technologist blog...

Click here to view the list of places where you can download Revit Families....

Here are a couple old posts of mine with some overlapping links (and some different links):

Elliptipar Lighting Revit Models

For those of you seeking out some nice lighting fixtures to use Elliptipar has some great Revit Models.  Not to mention their lights are pretty sexy to begin with...  They also have two levels of model (for and not for rendering).

Check them out here:

Revit Families on Pinterest...

Great use of Pinterest and Revit...

I have been slowly getting into Pinterest and there are lots of things to like about it.  It is great for pinning architectural ideas, common interests, and even Revit content!  I can see many more architecture/Revit/BIM opportunities and ideas arising in the future.  How about you?

Free Revit People and Tree Detail Components

Luke re-posted a link to some... interesting... families.  They are detail components uploaded by Art Archtiecture...  The blog is in Russion but Google will translate it pretty well.  The families are actually kind of cool and can add some interest to your elevations or sections...  Like this:

Where Do I Get More Revit Content ( Families ) ?

Lately, it seems like a question I am asked about once a day....  "Where do I get this chair?", "Where do I get this table?"...

Well, **edit** Jame's put together a nice list of some typical resources for downloading Revit Content:

BIM Content for Revit

This post contains a listing of known websites hosting content for Revit. We’ll try to keep this post updated as sites change or new ones are created. This information was partially compiled from Mario Guttman’s AU 2011 class “Revit Family Counseling” (visit Mario’s own site whitefeet.com for custom Revit tools).

Manufacturer’s Content

Autodesk Seek – content aggregated by Autodesk; contains default Revit families as well as manufacturer-specific content, low to moderate quality control; content in a variety of formats, search can filter for specific formats; free, no registration required.

ARCAT – generic and manufacturer-specific content; modeled by ARCAT, high quality control; free, no registration required.
bimstore – manufacturer-specific content; modeled by bimstore, high quality control; free, registration required for downloading content.

I would also like to add this link that has content I have used before:

Can you think of some that aren't listed here or on Phil's blog?  Comment below!!

**Edit.***  Find more links at this post as well...

Content Download - Existing Casework

I have been working on a lot of schools lately at the office and many of the projects are additions/renovations.  This requires us to build an existing model.  Most often than not we have to show the existing casework and then demolish it.  Well, this can be a very tedious and annoying task using the default Revit casework because it is in a bunch of pieces (Counter top, 4 base cabinets, and 4 wall cabinets).  I decided to make a simple little family for this purpose.  Simply place the family in your rooms... Then demoing and managing the one family becomes a lot easier.

Click here to download the family.

The family features an instance parameter for the length (so you can put it in any room and simply pull it to the length you need).  Type parameters for the width and heights of any necessary masses.  It also has a visibility parameter enabling the user to turn on and off the wall cabinets.

Feel free to add more detail, parameters, or materials...

BIM Store - Free Revit Content

I am always getting emails and comments asking about where to get good Revit families and content.  I usually point readers to Autodesk SEEK and RevitCity.com (at their own risk of course)...  Well BIM Store is a new one out of the UK.  Looks promising...

BIM Store is a place for Manufacturers and Designers to use content.  The site is very well put together and a pleasure to navigate.  Go give it a look.  There is a nice little "What is BIM Store" feature that lets you choose if you are a designer or manufacturer and how BIM Store will help you...

Thanks to David Light for the post and find...
